A Quick Comparison between Text Message and iMessage

There are a number of differences between the two ways of messaging. While they may look similar to all of us, but in reality, there are striking differences between the ways they both operate. A lot of people tend to get confused between the two. Let us start by understanding this.

Text Message and iMessage

Understanding Text Message:

When a message is sent, the person has to type the whole text and touch the send button. The message reaches the recipient with the help of service provider they have been subscribed to. If the person is a part of any plan, they will be charged accordingly. You have to pay as per the rules and regulations of the telecom department. You will be charged extra if you exceed the word limit in the text. Usually, the limit is 160 characters. The person can send text messages longer than this, but they will be charged additionally for this. The message can be sent to anyone.

The disadvantage is that one cannot send images or any multimedia content in a text message. If you send that, it will no longer be called a text message, it will be called an MMS. Also, they charge more in the case of an MMS that a normal text message.

Understanding iMessage:

On the other hand, when a message is sent to someone who has an Apple ID, the application automatically recognizes the ID and sends the message through the server of Apple instead of the network provider. The person sending the text does not have to pay for this and the application is equipped enough to identify the Apple ID as a result of which the message is sent on its own. The person does not need to be connected with Wifi to send the message. With the help of this service, one can easily send documents, video, audio and text to the other person. iMessage is a service that is provided to the users of Ios and Mac. This service does not have any character limit. The message can be as long as you want it to be. One of the reasons for this could be that they use data and not the server. In this case, the message is only sent to Apple users. The message can be sent to and received only from iPhones, iPads, iPods, Mac, but not from android phones. With the help of iMessage, one can also share the location, send voice messages and you can also see whether the person will reply you back or not. If you and your friends are part of a group in which all are Apple users and there is only one who uses Android, all the messages will be sent in the form of a text message only. It is because this kind of service is compatible on all the phones.  For more details, click here.
